— 01 / About

Hi, I am Kayla — and I am glad you are here.

I am a Registered Psychologist passionate about supporting individuals through grief and loss, trauma, the impacts of sexualized violence, and building self-compassion and self-worth.

I began working in the field of sexual violence in 2013, supporting non-profit organizations in the community after completing my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology. This work inspired me to pursue further education, and I completed my Master of Counselling at City University in 2023.

I have provided counselling services in community non-profit settings, including Jewish Family Services and Together Talk Counselling, offering accessible mental health support in rural Alberta communities.

In my practice, I prioritize the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for healing. I often use a narrative approach to explore the stories people carry and how those stories may shape their experiences today. I also integrate somatic and mindfulness-based practices to support nervous system regulation and deepen self-understanding.

I value creating an inclusive and affirming space for people from diverse backgrounds and identities — including members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, people from different cultures, and individuals living with disabilities.

— 03 / My approach

Healing happens in relationship.

I believe healing begins within a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship — one where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in compassion, while also informed by a feminist and anti-oppressive lens that recognizes how systems, culture, and lived experience shape mental health and well-being.

Together, we work toward greater self-understanding, emotional regulation, self-compassion, and meaningful change.

01

Trauma-informed

Safety, choice, and pace lead every session — your nervous system sets the tempo.

02

Narrative therapy

Exploring the stories you carry, where they came from, and which ones still serve you.

03

Somatic & mindful

The body holds wisdom — we listen to it as carefully as we listen to your words.

04

Feminist & anti-oppressive

Grounded in awareness of how culture, systems, and lived experience shape mental health.
